Save Energy and Money through Weatherization
Veterans Green Job is Colorado’s largest weatherization services provider for income-qualified homes in Denver and Jefferson County. And our weatherization program in the San Luis Valley provides much-needed weatherization services for homes in the poorest, most rural geographic area in the state of Colorado.
Through a contract with the Colorado Energy Office, Veterans Green Jobs has helped an annual average of1,200 households increase their energy efficiency and safety since 2009. These services help make residents more comfortable in winter and summer, reduce utility bills, increase health and safety, and lower their carbon footprint.
In 2012, the U.S. Department of Energy (DOE) Weatherization Assistance Program (WAP) and the CEO announced that Colorado is one of 25 states whose funding has been severely cut for fiscal year 2013, beginning July 1, 2012. This results in a 75% reduction in Veterans Green Jobs’ weatherization services. Despite these dramatic cutbacks, we intend to continue our partnership with the CEO and provide services to our communities within the limits of current funding through June 30, 2013.
