Marietta Silva, corporate partnership manager for Veterans Green Jobs, attended the Army Women’s Foundation Symposium in Washington DC in mid-March. The symposium was created to identify the successes, lessons learned, next steps, and the collaborations and partnerships still needed to help Army women successfully transition from military culture to civilian society. During the luncheon, the foundation also inducted new members into the Army Women’s Hall of Fame. This year it honored the Women Who Served in Vietnam (Army Nurse Corp.). Of the luncheon, Marietta said, “The Hall of Fame inductees told some incredible stories at their induction ceremony. I was personally captivated by their tales of triumph and friendship; the bond between them still exists today and everyone present could feel their camaraderie.” Marietta is shown here with Kathy Cox, senior manager for the Walmart Foundation, and Gary Profit (U.S. Army, Retired), senior director of Military Programs for Walmart – VGJ’s founding sponsor.
