Veterans Green Jobs is proud to be a charity partner in the 2012 Kaiser Permanente Colfax Marathon May 20, 2012

No Sweat (Army Running Cadence)

One mile – No Sweat
Two miles – Better yet
Three miles – Gotta run
Four miles – Just for fun
Come on – Let’s go
We can go – Through the snow
We can run – To the sun
We train – In the rain

Run for fun, Run for a veteran, Run for your hero.
What can you do to help combat the staggering unemployment rate of our military veterans? You can run in any race of the Colfax Marathon. By asking your friends and family members to sponsor you, you’ll be helping Veterans Green Jobs in its mission to engage, transition and connect military veterans with meaningful employment opportunities that serve our communities and environment.

You can join in the fun by running, organizing a relay team of five people, or sponsoring a runner on race day in downtown Denver.

It’s easy to participate – just follow these three simple steps:

Step one: Visit http://www.coloradocolfaxmarathon.org, register to run and pick Veterans Green Jobs under the Charity Partners link. As a runner, you have a choice of participating in the full marathon, the half marathon, the 10-mile, the 5K or the five-person relay team.

Once you register, a Veterans Green Jobs staff member will be in contact with you to let you know how you can make the most out of your marathon.

Step two: You can strongly encourage your friends and family to support your run by making a donation to Veterans Green Jobs on your behalf. Create your own giving page at Giving First.org. Click on Create Account, and customize your giving page quickly and easily.

Step three: Train for your race with the support of Veterans Green Jobs’s corporate sponsor, Colorado Athletic Club at the Tabor Center, where you can access weekly fun runs, Saturday long runs, and training advice.

You can win great prizes, depending on the level of your contribution:

  • Squad level is achieved by raising $50-$75.
  • Platoon level is achieved by raising $75-100.
  • Company level is achieved by raising $100-$125.
  • Battalion level is achieved by raising $125-$150.
  • Brigade level is achieved by raising over $150.

All runners raising over $50 will receive an awesome Veterans Green Jobs shirt, a goodie bag, and an invitation to the swankiest pre-race carbo-load chow down we can throw together on a nonprofit budget. To the epically heroic, prizes will be given out for the top three biggest fundraisers.

Have a group of friends interested in participating in a five-person relay team? Call Kynnie Martin at 720-236-1336 to find out how your group can help us win an up to $5,000 in prizes!

Race day is May 20, 2012. Who’s your inspiration?
