DENVER (June 29, 2012) – In a partnership designed to put more veterans back to work in the Green Energy industry, Veterans Green Jobs has teamed up with W.J. Bradley Mortgage Capital, LLC (W.J. Bradley) as an installation partner for energy efficiency-related home improvements through the U.S. Department of Housing and Urban Development (HUD) sponsored PowerSaver Loan Program. HUD has selected W.J. Bradley as a provider of PowerSaver loans of up to $25,000 to homeowners for energy-related improvements at low interest rates.
Veterans Green Jobs is a national 501 (c) (3) nonprofit organization that is putting military veterans to work in environmental sustainability career fields such as energy efficiency, renewable energy and outdoor conservation. Through this partnership, veterans who are trained and certified in the residential energy retro-fit industries will perform the work for homeowners who have chosen a PowerSaver loan through WJB Energy.
“As a community partner and a veteran-conscious business, W.J. Bradley is committed to helping Veterans Green Jobs help more veterans find promising careers in the energy and solar industries,” said Thorne Butler, Director of Public and Private Partnerships for W.J. Bradley. “By launching the PowerSaver loan program in our local Denver community, we hope to expand the program nationally to employ veterans and serve customers across the country.”
PowerSaver is a new loan program from the Federal Housing Administration (FHA) that will enable homeowners to make cost effective, energy saving improvements to their homes. PowerSaver provides federal loan insurance and other incentives to participating lenders to deliver low-cost home energy improvement loans. Qualifying homeowners will be able to borrow up to $25,000 for terms of 15 years (20 years for renewable energy systems) to make proven home energy and traditional improvements of their choice, based on a list developed by FHA and the U.S. Department of Energy.
“Denver-area households that take advantage of this great low-interest loan can improve their homes while also putting more veterans to work,” said Dr. Bill Doe, CEO of Veterans Green Jobs. “Our partnership with W.J. Bradley and the PowerSaver program enables us to strengthen our work and our mission, which has a three-fold goal: to serve veterans, the environment and communities.”
Offered to qualified borrowers with no origination cost, appraisal or title fees, PowerSaver loans can be secured at rates as low as 5.75% percent, with a 30-day lock-in rate, no prepayment penalties and complete contractor management services. As part of its overall service, W.J. Bradley customers will also receive a free energy audit. This complimentary energy assessment will help homeowners make informed decisions regarding cost-saving improvements that range from new doors and windows to insulation or solar panel installation.
