Dr. Bill Doe, CEO, was invited along with 75 other national business, government and non-profit leaders to explore economic issues, including employment, education, and community engagement related to America’s newest Veterans during the recent Clinton Global Initiative (CGI), held in Chicago on 29-30 June. The meeting, CGI America, was the first CGI event solely dedicated to economic issues impacting our country. Its focus was job creation and economic growth in the United States. Several plenary sessions of top business and government executives were held on the topics of employment, education, energy and energy efficiency. The Veterans specific working group addressed six key aspects of veterans outreach, reintegration, training, education and employment, and made specific recommendations for follow-up. Dr. Doe conveyed the programs and models that VGJ is using to create training and job opportunities for veterans in the green economy, and initiated several partnerships with other key non-profits.
